Scarlet-rumped Tanager – Arenal Volcano, CR

This Scarlet-rumped Tanager (Ramphocelus passerinii) was sitting quietly in trees just outside of Arenal Observatory Lodge. Its brilliant crimson rump stood out against otherwise jet-black plumage and the surrounding leaves.
