Bronzed Cowbird in Tulum Mexico
The Bronzed Cowbird in Tulum is hard to miss with it’s red eyes and glossy black feathers. It ranges from the southern U.S. through Mexico and down into South America. Instead of raising its own chicks, this bird sneaks its eggs into the nests of others. This is outsourcing at its finest. Males of this species also have a funny courtship trick. They hover in the air, buzzing like a giant bug, before dropping back down to show off. The Bronzed Cowbird will not win any parenting awards, but it sure knows how to make an entrance.
