The TOH Nature Reserve in Puerto Morelos is one of the Riviera Maya’s hidden gems for birdwatchers. Just a short drive from Cancun and Playa del Carmen, this privately-owned reserve offers excellent birding without long travel times. Over 170 species have been recorded here, and depending on the season, you may spot between 40 and 70 species in a single visit.

Your private excursion begins with an early morning hotel pickup and guided birding walk through the reserve. Look for local specialties such as Yucatán Jay, Turquoise-browed Motmot, Keel-billed Toucan, Black Catbird, Rose-throated Tanager, Orange Oriole, and multiple species of woodpeckers, woodcreepers, trogons, and hummingbirds. After a rewarding morning of birding, enjoy a hearty breakfast of eggs and coffee before returning to your hotel.
