Toucans are iconic Neotropical birds, easily recognized by their enormous, colorful bills. These large bills, though seemingly cumbersome, are lightweight and used for reaching fruits, as well as for display and thermoregulation. Toucans are primarily frugivorous, but they also consume insects and small vertebrates. They are social birds, often found in small flocks, and nest in tree cavities.
