Phasianidae is a large family of chicken-like birds found worldwide (excluding South America). It includes pheasants, partridges, quail, junglefowl, and peafowl. They are primarily ground-dwelling, with strong legs for scratching and running. They are omnivorous and many species are popular game birds.
