New World Sparrows

Passerellidae, commonly known as New World sparrows, are a diverse family of small, seed-eating birds found throughout the Americas. They are characterized by their conical bills, ideal for cracking seeds, and their often brown or gray plumage, which provides excellent camouflage. Many species within this family exhibit distinctive head patterns, aiding in identification. While primarily seed-eaters, some species may also consume insects or fruits, depending on availability. Passerellidae birds occupy a wide range of habitats, from grasslands and forests to deserts and urban environments.
