Jacamars
Jacamars are slender, medium-sized birds found in tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America. They are known for their iridescent plumage, often in shades of green, blue, and gold, and their long, pointed bills, which they use to capture insects on the wing. These birds are typically found perched conspicuously on branches, sallying out to catch flying prey much like kingfishers. Jacamars nest in burrows excavated in banks or earthen mounds.
