Laridae is a large family of seabirds found worldwide, including gulls, terns, and skimmers. Gulls are generally larger and more robust, scavenging and feeding on a variety of prey. Terns are smaller and more agile, diving for fish in the water. Skimmers have unique, laterally compressed bills used to skim the water’s surface for small fish.
