Dippers are unique songbirds adapted to an aquatic lifestyle, found near fast-flowing rivers and streams. They have dense plumage that keeps them warm and dry underwater, and they can “walk” along the river bottom to forage for insects and other invertebrates. Dippers build domed nests, often placed on rocks near or overhanging water.
