About Us

At 10000BirdTours.com, we’re all about connecting birders with experienced, local guides who can make their birding adventures unforgettable. We understand how important it is to have the right guide—someone who knows the land, the birds, and the little things that can make a trip feel truly special. That’s why we’re dedicated to making it easier for birders like you to find trusted, knowledgeable guides no matter where in the world you’re traveling.

Cuba, November 2019

Our Story

Our story began with a simple need that every passionate birder can understand: we wanted to make the most of our travels by finding expert local guides who could not only help us identify rare birds but also introduce us to the hidden gems of a place—local restaurants, cultural spots, and unique experiences we might not have found on our own.

One of the moments that really shaped our journey was a trip to Cuba to see the Bee Hummingbird, the smallest in the world. We found ourselves scouring the internet, trying to figure out the best place to stay, where the best sightings were, and who we could trust as a guide. That’s when we met Adrian and Anna—owners of an Airbnb who had cultivated a beautiful garden specifically to attract the birds we were looking for. They turned out to be more than just hosts; they were guides with deep knowledge of the park up the road, offering us the chance to see endemic species we had only dreamed of.

It was an experience that felt like pure magic, but also one that made us realize how difficult it is to find these local, knowledgeable guides all in one place. We knew there had to be a better way to help other birders easily connect with the experts who make these kinds of trips so memorable. That’s when the idea for 10000BirdTours.com was born.

What Sets Us Apart

What makes us different is simple: we offer birding tours across the globe, and we give small, local tour operators a place to share their expertise without all the fees that other platforms might charge. We believe in supporting these guides—people like Adrian and Anna—who are passionate about both birds and their communities. It’s our mission to give birders easy access to these incredible guides and help them find experiences that go beyond just birdwatching.

By partnering with local guides, we’re able to offer more than just a tour—we’re giving you a chance to truly immerse yourself in the local culture, enjoy the best hidden spots, and experience birding in a way that feels authentic, unique, and personal.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to make birding travel easier, more accessible, and more sustainable. We want to take the guesswork out of finding local guides, so you can focus on what really matters—getting out into the field and experiencing the birds. We believe in supporting local communities, protecting the environment, and promoting sustainable travel practices that benefit both the birds and the people who live alongside them.

We want every birder to feel like they’re part of a global community—one that not only values the birds we seek but also the people who make these experiences possible. Our goal is to connect you with the best guides, help you discover new places, and make sure that everyone involved in the birding journey thrives.

Our Values

  • Community: We’re all about supporting the local guides and communities that make birding so special. By working with small tour operators, we help them grow while sharing their love for birds with the world.
  • Sustainability: We believe that birding and conservation go hand in hand. We encourage responsible birding practices that help protect the ecosystems we love, while also supporting sustainable livelihoods for those who depend on them.
  • Education: Birding is about more than just seeing new species—it’s about learning how we can live in harmony with nature. We strive to educate both birders and guides on how to preserve the natural world, so future generations can enjoy the same experiences we do.
  • Accessibility: We want birding to be accessible to everyone. Our platform is designed to make it easy for you to find and book a tour with local guides, no matter where you are in the world.
